Final Rotation
The Olympics have wrapped, and Team Canada leaves Milano Cortina 2026 with five gold medals across speed skating, freestyle skiing and curling. Not bad for a country that treats winter like a personality trait.

What stayed with me wasn’t the medal count, but the rhythm, especially in the women’s team pursuit, where three skaters rotate the lead lap after lap and clean exchanges decide the race.

Canadian rye
Cold brew black tea
Light maple
Saline
Very dry sparkling cider
Stirred cold over a single clear block in a rocks glass, the cider lands last, keeping the carbonation alive and shifting the drink from amber to gold. I didn’t want it to taste like fireworks. I wanted it to feel earned.
A maple–black tea sphere rests above the glass. Sip first and it holds its line. Bite first and the next sip opens before settling back into form. Like a good team, it stays composed under pressure.
What would you do, sip first or bite first?
