Sky Garden

Some of the most carefully designed environments are the ones in which the design seems to disappear.

I recently visited The Butterfly Place in Westford, Massachusetts, where the climate and landscape are carefully managed, yet once inside, none of that structure feels restrictive. The garden appears larger than its footprint, with butterflies moving freely between dense greenery and shifting points of colour.

Together, those choices reflect what stayed with me about The Butterfly Place: every element was carefully considered, but the experience itself felt completely free.

When was the last time a place made you stop and simply observe?

  • White tea and pink peppercorn sous-vide pisco

  • Soft botanical gin

  • Sous-vide blackberry cordial

  • Fresh lemon

White tea carries the serenity of the flight room, while gin and blackberry reflect its greenery and shifting colour. Pink peppercorn adds brief warmth and lemon keeps the structure clean. Shaken cold and served in a thin coupe, the drink is finished with a peppery nasturtium leaf floating on the surface.
